2015 LHC Scholarship Application is released to the public

Greenville, South Carolina -  Alpha Phi Alpha Greenville Foundation has released its 2015 Luke H. Chatman Scholarship Application. The Scholarship, which has given $73,000 in funding to Greenville Country High School Students , currently support three students in attending the college. The Scholarship  award is $3,000 given over four years ($750 per year). 

The deadline for submission is April 1, 2015 and a selection committee led by Kynan Robinson will recommend a winner to Foundation and sponsoring Chapter, Gamma Gamma Lambda. The Application requires an essay and simple financial information. The Selection criteria is based on the "whole person" which a combination of needs and scholarship performance. Black Males are preferred but the open to others. The winner should be announced in May.

The scholarship is named after Bro. Luke H. Chatman who was the first state Director of South Carolina and well-known educator in Greenville Country. Brother Chatman entered Omega Chapter (deceased) on June 20, 1985 and is survived by his wife Mrs. Janie Barksdale Chatman and three children, Mike (Alpha brother), Donna, and Glenda and two grandchildren.
