Greenville, South Carolina - Alpha Phi Alpha Greenville Foundation is again set to hold its annual Project Alpha Seminar at the Kroc Center (424 Westfield Street | Greenville, SC 29601) on July 20th. The seminar will start at 10 AM and last until 2 PM.

Project Alpha is an educational program for adolescent males conducted collaboratively by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the March of Dimes. First developed in 1980, its goal is to assist young men with making responsible decisions. "It about making responsible choices," said Program Chair Chuck Ford. "We want to empower [young men] with knowledge and skills to make better choices."

Brother Chuck Ford, Program Chair, leads a discussion about making good choices at last year's seminar.

The program encourages participants to increase healthy lifestyle behaviors by learning about the consequences of pregnancy, anatomy, and physiology of the human body, and the importance of fatherhood. Since 2011, we have reached more than 400 young men with the program. Local churches, organizations, and schools are asked to refer young African-American males between the ages of 12-17 who will benefit from the program. We also invite the public to join us by serving as group leaders in the presentations and group discussions being held. Volunteers, including community leaders, health care providers, lawyers, and clergymen, lead the sessions.
