Greenville, South Carolina - We are very proud to announce that Alpha Phi Alpha Greenville Foundation (AGF) officially received its designation today (11/5/2013) from the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization.  This means our Foundation is an official Federally-approved charitable organization, along with our additional status as being recognized by the State of South Carolina as a charitable organization in April 2013.

AGF was formed a year ago to help worthy causes who matched our mandate to "cover the Upstate with service, scholarship, and mentorships".  Currently AGF supports seven long-established programs that focus on improving the educational, leadership and character-building skills of students in the Upstate area, particularly in Greenville County.

Foundation President Keith Barksdale commented on the significance of this status. "This culminates a lot of time and effort considering that our initial application was submitted almost a year ago to the day.  This comes at an excellent time given our upcoming MLK Scholarship Gala and our partnership with Furman University.  My personal thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on compiling and helping to submit all of the required information."

The AGF Board of Directors would like to thank our many sponsors who are supporting our efforts in the community, and we invite others to join our efforts to increase our reach to more inspiring students. We will be announcing our 2014 sponsorship opportunities in later in the month and we welcome additional support as we seek to inspire and support our youth to the betterment of the community.
