FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Greenville, South Carolina] -We are excited to announce our 47th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Celebration on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12 PM to 2 PM. As in past years, we have decided to continue our hybrid event, offering both in-person and virtual options. We will feature a jazz luncheon for those in person with the Jamie Wright Experience. Doors will open at 11:30 AM.
The MLK Scholarship Celebration aims to raise funds for the Foundation's initiatives to support local youth in the Upstate region of South Carolina. We are also proud to continue hosting the first and oldest Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Event in the Upstate of South Carolina, as well as selecting our Martin Luther King Jr. Citizenship Award winner. Last year's Award winner was Ms. Tabetha Ma’ta Crawford, a dedicated community specialist and health worker with over 25 years of experience. The Honorable Representative Kambrell H. Garvin (Richland - District #77) was our MLK Keynote Speaker. We will announce the 2026 Citizenship Winner and Keynote Speaker in December 2025.
We request your support for the Alpha Phi Alpha Greenville Foundation (AGF). We start fundraising to support our foundation events, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Celebration and our six other efforts for 2026. We are very proud of our efforts and their effect on Greenville's youth. We need your help to expand our programs to more youth in the upstate community. Please visit our foundation website, www.alphagreenville.org, for more information about our efforts.
